As discussed in Geoffrey Cantors's article 'Quaker science texts' in this issue, The Natural History Journal was founded in 1877. It was a school magazine conducted by a consortium of Friend's schools. Its title was changed to The Natural History Journal and School Reporter in order to expand its scope and to include regular reports om sporting events.
